Hartsfield – Jackson Atlanta International Airport is World busiest Airport of Atlanta. It is located seven miles (11 km) south of the central business district of Atlanta, Georgia, United States. DeKalb-Peachtree Airport
DeKalb-Peachtree Airport still has 765 acres of land, with over 100 hangars and several hundred aircraft based there. It is a municipal general aviation airport located in Chamblee, Georgia, just northeast of Atlanta. It is operated by the local government of DeKalb County, Georgia, and is also known commonly as Peachtree-DeKalb Airport. It is the second-busiest airport in Georgia behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the number of flight operations per year (around 300,000). Most of people generally called “PDK” for Airport. Weather agency reports are produced 24 hours per day as "Chamblee". On the radio, however, it is referred to as "Peachtree Tower" or "Peachtree Ground". DeKalb Peachtree Airport occupies a prime location inside the Perimeter, located less than fifteen minutes from Atlanta's major business centers. DeKalb Peachtree Airport was one of the largest tax contributors of DeKalb County, behind The Southern Company and Bellsouth but receives no taxpayer dollars for operations.
Fulton County Airport
Fulton County is located outside of Atlanta, Georgia. This county has the largest airport that is closest to the Atlanta airport. The Fulton County Airport, which is also dubbed the Charlie Brown airport, is considered a Class “D’ airport. It is located very near Interstate 20, Interstate 285, and the Chattahoochee River, just outside the Atlanta city limits. It is the nearest airport to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (which is just south of Atlanta), and handles much of the general aviation traffic that would otherwise go there. The airport in Fulton County is also available for pilot training. There are flying lessons for airplanes such as Cessna’s, and the online ground school has received top accolades for their teachings. Its location on I20 is just five miles away from Interstate 285, which makes for an easy access to and from the airport. Those that are interested in catching a flight that is located at the Fulton County Airport should contact the airport in advance. This is important to make sure that there are round trips or connecting flights available as needed. Major airports, such as the Atlanta airport, often have airline tickets that can be purchased towards a flight to the Fulton County Airport. Chartered airlines are common at the airport, as there are 58 flights that travel into and out of the airport on a daily basis. In most instances, the flights that are used at this airport are local flights, or they are used as a connection area.
